It’s the University of WI- La Crosse indoor triathlon this weekend. While I’m not even close to the physical shape I was in last year, I’m optimistic that I should be able to do well since it’s about 1/16th of an Ironman (and if I can do an Ironman, I can do just about anything else that comes my way).
I tried looking up the results from last year’s event but they seemed to have disappeared from the University’s website. Luckily I wrote a race report so I will be able to compare my results with last years. I’m really looking forward to the event as I’ll be able to compete alongside a great group of my Winona girlfriends and with my mom as a spectator. It’s gonna be a fantastic day!
The indoor triathlon involves a 10-minute swim, 20-minute bike and a 15 -run with a 10-minute break during the first transition, and 5 minutes during 2nd transition. Here are my pre-race thoughts going into it:
- I’ve been working on increasing my running pace in shorter-distances so I plan to put that into action and really go for it.
- I’ve continued my 2-hour weekend bike training rides with friend DV so I should have no problem on the bike.
- I’ll have to dig deep and push myself in the pool as I haven’t done a lot of swimming this winter but in the last week or so I’ve felt as if my strength is beginning to return.
Latest life updates:
— Hubby is now working the day shift which means that we actually get to see each other during the weekdays, and we are on the same sleep schedule.
— I’m officially signed up for my three races this summer: Trinona, RochesterFest and Brewhouse. I got my Trinona trucker hat in the mail the other day so really hoping that spring arrives early and I can begin training outdoors.
— I’m so excited to announce that I am been accepted to be a FitFluential Ambassador. FitFluential is a nationwide network of fitness enthusiasts that share their journey through blogging and/or social media. FitFluential Ambassadors are enthusiastic fitness influencers who have a strong social media presence and a definitive voice that provides high-quality content and passion for fitness-related topics. Their eligibility requirements are quite extensive, and while I didn’t meet any of them they do make exceptions for those who show great potential (woo hoo! I’ve got potential!).
