Last week was a great week. I got a ton of wedding planning done, and I brought home my new Cervelo P2 tri bike from Brone’s Bike Shop in Fountain City, WI. The depressing factor is that it continues to snow and snow, making spring bike riding season a far away dream.
I was able to complete my bike threshold test on Saturday using the new bike. I now realize how nice it is to track my workout using the power meter. A power meter allows me to measure my effort in watts which leads to better quality training sessions as well as a better way to pace myself on competition day. I imagine that Coach Joe did some cartwheels down his driveway with all this new data he can use to track my biking progress.
Here are the instructions and results from the bike threshold test. The information from this test will allow for specific goals in watts and heart rate for me to strive for in future bike workouts.
Here is my training plan for the week:
Monday: 15 min warm-up + strength training + 3,100 yd swim
Tuesday: Core workout + 30 min run + 1,700 yd swim
Wednesday: AM track workout + PM strength training
Thursday: 90-min endurance ride + 3,200 yd swim
Friday: Core workout + 30 min run
Saturday: 60 min run
Sunday: 90 min bike workout
T-202 days until Ironman Wisconsin!
