I’m feeling like a zombie today after the training I’ve put in over the past week. I could really use a few naps. Looking forward to a couple days off for the upcoming holiday weekend to get myself back to normal.
We finally have some beautiful warm weather so I put in about 77 miles of biking over the weekend. I even got to ride with a friend on Sunday which made the trip twice as fun!
Last night, I did my own little duathlon by running 35 minutes, biking for a total of 2 hours and finishing with an 18-minute transition run. While running, I was able to try out my new Team Dairy tank top. Seeing as I will be joining the Midwest Dairy team soon it was a natural decision to be a part of the Team Dairy Runners group on Facebook.
The Brone’s time trial was another fantastic night, we had about 20 riders including 6 women. I only shaved about 5 seconds off my flat-course time, but I’ll take it. The conditions were just about perfect last night, and the crew of cyclists were even better. Tuesday nights have become my favorite night of the week.
To top it all off, my golden girl Ellie and I were finishing up the transition run and we were able to enjoy the sunset over the west lake. As I was snapping photos, I thought about how much I was going to miss this place. I’m going to savor my last weeks here in this wonderful city.
Here is this week’s training plan:
Monday: 45 min run + core workout + strength maintenance
Tuesday: 120 min biking (Brone’s TT) + 15 min transition run
Wednesday: 3,400 yd swim
Thursday: 115 min run
Friday: 120 min bike
Saturday: 3,200 yd swim
Sunday: 3-1/2 hour bike
T-109 days until Ironman Wisconsin!
