Well I am now 30 days away from the wedding, my house has been on the market for 11 days (6 showings so far) and I have 3 weeks left at my job. Life is flying by fast and I’m just trying to enjoy the ride. Tuesday evening was time trial night again and there was another great turnout of area cyclists, especially considering it was Canada Ridge night.
The hill TT course is a 5 miler that includes a 1.25 mi hill that climbs about 530 ft of elevation – about an 8% grade incline. In addition to the brutal hill, the road’s condition is rough making it even more challenging to travel up. Fortunately, I conquered the hill and my TT course time was about 2 minutes faster than last year.
Coach Joe has been tracking my Functional Threshold Power (FTP) from the power meter readings. FTP is the maximum power a person can maintain in an hour’s effort without fatiguing. In February I originally started out at an FTP of 120 watts, by April it improved to 140 watts and as of this week I’m up to 160 watts. Now if I can only continue improving at this rate I’ll be flying down the bike course at Ironman Wisconsin with the elite athletes (hey, a girl can dream right?).
Here is this week’s training plan:
Monday: Strength maintenance + core workout
Tuesday: TT night – hill workout + 15 min transition run
Wednesday: 3,000 yd swim
Thursday: 105 min run + core workout
Friday: 2,950 yd swim
Saturday: 3 hour bike ride + 30 min transition run + core workout
Sunday: 2 hour bike ride
T-116 days until Ironman Wisconsin!
