Happy New Year! Today is January 1, 2014 and it kicks off my official training for Ironman Wisconsin. We’ve got below zero weather happening outside, and being that it’s a major holiday the local Y is closed. Alas, my first day of training consisted of setting up my beloved Orbea road bike on the trainer. I’m sure many can agree that biking on a trainer is incredibly boring.
I don’t have a fancy set up. The bike is squeezed into a corner of a spare bedroom, and the boyfriend set up my laptop and speakers so that I can watch a movie (tonight’s selection was Disney’s Tangled, don’t judge me I like this movie). I also was visited occasionally by my 8-1/2 month old puppy Ellie who thought the whole biking process was a fun game and attempted to play with my foot or lick my leg while I was pedaling. I happened to capture some of her antics.
Coach Joe and I discussed plans for the next few months. It looks like my training will be focusing on running since it is my weakest leg of the triathlon, and swimming, biking and strength training will be incorporated into the weeks as well. Hopefully I will see some progress in my running pace. I keep reminding myself that miracles can happen. 🙂
Wishing you a happy and healthy 2014!
