This post is rather late as I updated my site to WordPress 3.9 and had some editor issues. I was able to troubleshoot and finally got things working again. YAY! So here’s what’s been happening in the world of Alex’s tri training…
Last week I uploaded my data from my two bike rides last week (the windy Wednesday ride & the hill repeat ride), and Coach Joe called the next day saying that based off the bike threshold test I performed in February the power wattage (measuring how much effort I put into pedaling) I maintained during these bike rides was physically impossible.
Now the plan is to re-do the bike threshold test this week, outdoors. Even though the plan was to complete this on Saturday, I was able to sneak in the test Friday evening since it was supposed to be much less windy. In the February threshold test I had an average of 135 watts during the 20-minute time-trial, and this time around I averaged 150 watts. Heck ya! That’s a huge improvement! It’s always comforting to know that all this training is actually working and I’m getting stronger.
That’s all for this week. Here is the training schedule:
Monday: strength maintenance + 45 min run
Tuesday: 60 min bike + 2,900 yd swim
Wednesday: 45 min run
Thursday: 3,200 yd swim + 30 min bike
Friday: 2,900 yd swim
Saturday: 90 min bike threshold test
Sunday: 75 min run
T-140 days until Ironman Wisconsin
