The past couple weeks of training and racing have definitely had their high and low points. Following the Duluth Triathlon my body was struggling to recover. I spent the whole week afterwards attempting to train. I had low energy, lack of motivation and muscles cramping anytime I tried to run. It was very discouraging knowing that Ironman Wisconsin is looming in just a matter of weeks. On top of all of that, I was in the process of moving out of my house. Fortunately, a recovery week was what my body needed and I was able to complete the Chisago Lakes Triathlon 70.3 race successfully with minimal issues recovering.
I am now officially no longer a Winonan. I’ve closed on my house and have moved in with my in-laws. The hubby and I are on the hunt for a new home, but no such luck as of right now. Hopefully we find something soon.
This past weekend was a fantastic one. My very good friend KB who is training for Ironman Florida (also a former Winonan) was in town for a mutual friend’s wedding. She and I were able to get in a 16-mile run on Saturday and an 86-mile bike ride on Sunday. The best part? Instead of feeling like torturous training, it just felt like a great time catching up and socializing with my friend. I can’t thank her enough for pushing me to run and bike farther and harder than what I would have likely done if I had been on my own.
Now I’m located in the Rochester area and will be training here through Ironman Wisconsin. I will be taking advantage of the Tri Rochester club and Coach Joe and his athlete friends to train with. While I’m looking forward to all this training being done with, I’m wondering what the heck I’m going to do with all my time afterwards. Suggestions?
T-33 days until Ironman Wisconsin!
