It’s the first week of May which means that the Brone’s Time Trials have begun! Even with the crazy wind gusts today it was a blast. I even showed up all decked out in my new aero helmet which I have been waiting months to wear! I biked a 29:20 which is faster than my best time from last summer. Plus, I was able to get in extra miles by biking out to the TT in Fountain City/Cochrane and back to Winona afterwards. It ended up being about 34 miles of riding. I managed to get home just before it got too dark outside.
Next week I’ll likely return to do the hill TT course which includes a nasty hill that is very comparable to Garvin Heights – a famous Top 100 hill in Winona known for its steep grade and long length. I’ll post the elevation chart next week. It will be fantastic training for the upcoming Trinona – long course and Ironman Wisconsin.
Are you ready to hear my exciting news that I withheld from you last week? No, I’m not pregnant! That would put a real damper on my Ironman plans.
I am thrilled to announce that I have accepted a position to work for Midwest Dairy as their Health & Wellness program manager. This means that in the next month I will be leaving my job at Hy-Vee.
The hardest part that I’m struggling with is that I will be leaving Winona. In the almost 4 years that I’ve been here, I have fallen in love with the community and gained so many wonderful friendships. I love being able to walk into the Y or Target or wherever in town and run into someone that I know. I also will have to sell my house. My first home. This will be tough for me as I loved making it my own. Every time I see the realtor’s sign in the front yard my heart aches a little.
But, this was an opportunity that I couldn’t pass up. I have attended a handful of events hosted by Midwest Dairy in the past few years, and I’ve always been impressed by their dedication to educate others about the dairy industry. I am so excited to be able to represent dairy farmers and promote wholesome, nutritious dairy products throughout the state of Minnesota.
Where are we going to move? Not quite sure yet. For my job at Midwest Dairy I will need to be within an hour of St. Paul, while the fiancee works in Rochester. So we will likely try and find a place between the two locations.
So let’s take a quick recap on the insanity that is my life right now. 1) Ironman training 2) Getting married in June 3) New job 4) Selling house and moving… Yowza! That’s a lot to think about.
Alright, well here is this week’s training schedule. I’m traveling home over the weekend to complete some wedding duties in Duluth, but hopefully will be able to sneak in an hour run somewhere in there!
