Happy 2015! It’s funny how as soon as the holiday season was over I began to daydream about warmer weather. The daydreams involve biking outdoors, open water swimming and running while wearing shorts and a T-shirt. This can only means one thing, I’m mentally ready & excited to start training for triathlon season. It’s safe to say that 2015 will be much different than 2014. I’m living in a new city with a new husband, and instead of training for ultra-distance Ironman with a coach I’ll be flying solo and focused mainly on local sprint-distance races. I’m pretty sure the new hubby felt neglected last year being left at home alone while I swam, biked, ran and then proceeded to sleep the remainder of our time together. So in 2015 the hubby and I are going to combine our mutual interest of horses (this is actually how we met as kids many years ago) and do some horse showing this summer.
My #1 goal for 2015 will be aimed at balancing life between being a wife, dietitian, triathlete and cowgirl. For those who know me, know that I thrive on being busy. Bring on summer!
The past few years I’ve averaged about six triathlons each year. I will likely be cutting this down to three local Minnesota races. Here is what I’ve got tentatively planned so far:
June 7th – Trinona – Winona, MN (sprint) – I registered already to beat the price hike on 1.1.15. The 2014 race report.
June 21st – RochesterFest Triathlon – Rochester, MN (sprint) – Zero traveling necessary :-). The 2014 race review.
August 1st – Brewhouse Triathlon – Duluth, MN (sprint) – Triathlon followed by a week at the cabin w/ family? Yes, please!
March 7th – UW-LaCrosse indoor triathlon – Basically a 45-minute training workout. Here’s the 2014 event report.
July 18th/19th – Twin Cities Tough Mudder – I’ll be spectating and cheering on the husband as he gets his annual mo-hawk haircut and completes the course with his buddies.
I’d love to hear from you! What are your goals for this year?
