Spring gave us a great preview here in Minnesota with a stretch of 50 and 60 degree weather. I took advantage in many ways.
#1 – Our yard was snow-free and we were able to sweep up the dead grass and leftover leaves. The hubby used his lawn sweeper, it’s like a vacuum cleaner for your lawn that you pull behind a lawn mower. I didn’t even know these existed until he came home with one purchased off Craigslist. Anyways, a clean lawn got me planning my spring/summer planting so I put in an order for some perennial flowers. I have A LOT of space for planting at our new house so I will be a busy gardener in the next month. If you enjoy gardening you are welcome to come and help me.
#2 – Horseback riding outdoors. I’ve been riding indoors for months and it was great to feel the sun on my face.
#3 – Biking outside! Even though it’s chilly while riding in the 40’s and 50’s, I was able to bundle up and get out the past two weekends riding. It was fabulous! The first weekend I took in a 19-mile ride with Rochester friend DV, the first outdoor ride of the year is always the best. My feet and toes got a little too cold so I made a mental note to purchase some booties to layer over my bike shoes.
This past weekend I traveled over to Brone’s bike shop in Fountain City, WI for their Saturday spring training ride. Weather was mid-40’s with lots of sun and a little bit of wind. I purchased some booties at the bike shop pre-ride to keep my feet warm. They aren’t the most attractive, but well worth buying as my toes stayed much warmer on our 4-hour trek through Wisconsin.
